Matthew McKay is a trimester 6 student at Texas Chiropractic College and a native of Fairfield, Alabama. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Wellness (2013) and a Master of Science in Human Performance (2015), both from Jacksonville State University. He later earned a second Master of Science in Athletic Leadership from Clemson University in 2021.

He began his professional journey in sports performance seeing as a high school strength & conditioning coach during his time as a college student. While serving as a high school strength & conditioning coach, Matthew was also serving as a student athletic trainer at Jacksonville State University. This led to an interning opportunity with professional football, letter opening the door for post-graduate opportunities. These opportunities helped shape his 13-year career in strength and conditioning and academics prior to pursuing chiropractic studies.

His coaching experience spans high school, collegiate, professional, and military levels. The most transformative stops along his journey are at Northern Guilford and Page High Schools in Greensboro, NC; Jacksonville State University; Clemson University; the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; and El Paso Community College. He most recently held the role of Associate Director of Sports Performance for a professional arena football team in Atlanta.

In addition to sport performance, he worked as a military contractor for strength and conditioning with the U.S. Army’s 1-501 Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Matthew has also taught college-level courses in kinesiology, exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, and general health.
